"To Bed or To Wed" (Darrington family Book 2) by Sandra Sookoo

To Bed or To Wed (Darrington family, #2)
DESCRIPTION AS ON AMAZON:

When an impromptu kiss captures the imagination, either a spark will ignite or family interference will snuff the match.

Charlotte Darrington adores being adored by the men in her circle. She’s in London at the request of her mother, and though her parent wants her to find an eligible gentleman and start a family, Charlotte delays. In her heart of hearts, she wants a man who can hold his own and won’t be cowed.

Nathan Brigham, Marquess of Ravenhurst, is annoyed with the interfering redhead leading his nephew into the evergreen maze. When he would have delivered a dressing down, she stops his words with a kiss. No matter that he finds her attractive and a welcome distraction from his darkly brooding life, he refuses to succumb to Charlotte’s charms. Above everything, he won’t become the savage man his father was.

Once they return to London from a house party at his country estate, the two can’t avoid each other. Stolen kisses and heated glances in shadowy halls as well as a questionable visit to White’s draw them closer. He can’t forget the demons from his past while her persistence to hear a declaration begs the question: to bed or to wed?

MY REVIEW:

"To Bed or To Wed" by Sandra Sookoo is about thirty-three-year-old Charlotte Darrington, whom is firmly upon the shelf. For all appearances, she doesn't mind enjoying the attention of male suitors while never being serious about any. She believes men change for the worse after marriage, and because of that, she doesn't fully participate in finding a match. However, what she really wants is a man who will not let her boss him or lead him around. She doesn't know such a man exists. A cantankerous, temper driven Marquess may be just what she needs. Nathan Brigham, Marquess of Ravenhurst allows the pain from his past to rule his life and wants to hand off his title to his nephew rather than live up to its responsibilities.

Sandra Sookoo painted Charlotte as a strong minded and bossy character. Very unique and sometimes a bother to her mother, she adds much excitement to the story. Her stubborn will is a bold and challenging match for Nathan. His inner demons make him darkly attractive, and the way the author portrayed his weaknesses made me sympathetic to him even though he is flawed. Nathan's tortured soul paired with Charlotte's need to soothe the savage beast and claim his heart makes a compelling read. I enjoyed the plot, and the characters were well drawn. The characters who schemed against Nathan and Charlotte added sufficient trouble, lent drama to further the story, and were good solid characters even though they weren't "likable". "To Bed or To Wed" is an entertaining read with romance, drama, conflict, and sexual tension.

Five Years - The Meeting by Leonard Belmont

Five Years - The Meeting
DESCRIPTION AS ON AMAZON:

Do you remember when you knew you were falling in love?

Do you recall the thoughts, feeling and emotions you experienced when falling in love?

MY REVIEW:

An interesting look into the mind of a being falling in love. The journey starts being described after the loved one is gone, and how one half feels without the other. Detailed situations outlining all the senses involved in the chemistry between two people make it easy to connect to the feelings of the writer. I could understand and empathize with the emotions behind the story. Very sincere and raw, it felt like reading someone's journal entries. The writing style was much the same and took a little getting used to. The punctuation confused me sometimes. It is a short and quick read, as I believe it will be completed in installments. I wouldn't mind finding out what happens in the rest of this love story.

"The Truth About Emily" by Madi Brown

The Truth About Emily

DESCRIPTION AS ON AMAZON:

29-year-old Emily Greene looks the part, but she’s still working on becoming a modern-day woman. Not that she’s one to back down from a challenge, but living as an eternal work-in-progress wasn't exactly the goal that she had in mind. It’s a harsh but true realization---the idea that that time isn't on her side, and the notion that wanting to have it all, doesn't mean getting it. The verdict is in; with zero prospects for a relationship and a stalled blogging career, Emily has every reason to believe that she’s been living a life too humdrum for her own good.
Making the change won’t be easy. She’ll have to do whatever it takes; start dating like a man, become more selective about which RSVP's she accepts, and work even harder at getting her dream job.The payoff’s huge; a modern twist on a storybook ending, but gains don’t often come without risks. In the here and now Emily just may be forced to choose...It’s got to be one or the other----the profession that she’s always wanted, or the love that she’s never had.

MY REVIEW:

Emily Greene wants it all, and is convinced she's destined for great things. After a failed relationship with Dirt-Dave she wants to experience some excitement and things she has never had in her romantic life. SO, with a hilarious experiment in one night stands and a trip to a "toy" store, she starts putting her sexual needs on high priority. Destiny calls through a megaphone and she meets a mobile barista named Joe who just may be "the one". However, writing a jewelry blog while freelancing isn't getting her where she wants to be in her career fast enough. She is taken on - or just plain taken by Bejeweled Magazine as an editor and lets her excitement over being on the fast track to success cause her more problems - financial and romantic, than the benefits this new job affords. While maneuvering through rough romantic terrain, career obsession, financial obstacles, her best friend's marital problems, and a strained relationship with her mother, Emily will gain some valuable life lessons about what really matters. I enjoyed the ride and became deeply involved in her journey - even if she was borderline shoe psychotic.
